Analog Aficionados Dinner

Our parent company Supplyframe is co-sponsoring this upcoming event with some of the biggest names in analog in Silicon Valley. We are re-posting event info distributed by Tim McCune here (with permission and some formatting changes) so more people can find out about the upcoming fun and hopefully attend.

The event will be held at the same place as previous years:

Sunday, Feb 22, 2015, 5:00 to 9:00PM
David’s Restaurant, Santa Clara
5151 Stars and Stripes Dr, Santa Clara, CA 95054
(408) 986-1666

Many thanks to confirmed sponsors Analog Devices, Atmel, Fairchild, Linear Systems, Linear Technology, Supplyframe, TI and UBM. As in past years, sponsors have pitched in for food and/or providing other help and giveaways, and there will be a cash bar.

As in years past, we’ll do nametags for everyone who signs up in advance. Like this email list, all info is used only for sending out notices for Analog Aficionados events. If you don’t sign up in advance, we’ll make you a tag at the door. Visit this site for the name tag signup:

Among Aficionados attendees will be some noted authors who I’m sure will be happy to sign any copies we bring:

Sponsor Giveaways

Many thanks to our sponsors Analog Devices, Atmel, Fairchild, Linear Systems, Linear Technology, Supplyframe, Texas Instruments and UBM for making this event possible. Our sponsors are also bringing some cool hand-outs and drawing items to share at the event. These include:

Atmel designed and printed the wonderful placemats giving a shout-out to old friends and colleagues. Paul Rako’s idea of honoring people within the analog engineering field by including them on the placemats is a heartwarming part of this event. Many thanks to Jeanette and the other great people at Atmel for making this happen.

Linear Technology

Linear Technology will be doing a drawing for its three Analog Circuit Design books during the event. Interested individuals should drop off their business card or leave their name to be included in the raffle. There will also be flyers, with special discount offers for the books. A brief summary of the books:

  • Analog Circuit Design, A Tutorial Guide to Applications and Solutions, edited by Bob Dobkin and Jim Williams – Source book of circuit design solutions covering a broad range of topics, including power management tutorials, switching regulator design, linear regulator design, data conversion, signal conditioning, and high frequency/RF design. 960 pages.
  • Analog Circuit Design, Volume 2, Immersion in the Black Art of Analog Design, edited by Bob Dobkin and Jim Williams – Extensive analog application notes collection, covering power management, data conversion and signal conditioning circuit solutions, plus an invaluable collection of circuit reference designs. 1250 pages.
  • Analog Circuit Design, Volume 3, Design Note Collection, edited by Bob Dobkin and John Hamburger – Comprehensive volume of applied circuit design solutions, providing elegant and practical design techniques. Includes an extensive power management section, as well as data conversion, data acquisition, communications interface design, operational amplifier design techniques, filter design, and wireless/RF design. 1106 pages.

Linear Systems

Linear Systems will have some our their JFETs, a few copies of their late founder John Hall’s book on vehicle electronics, and some classic analog t-shirts.

Supplyframe will have copies of their recently published Hackaday Omnibus and shirts for their new component search engine,

Texas Instruments

Visit the Texas Instruments table and get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a C2000™ LaunchPad. Fresh off the conveyor belt, the development kit for motion control systems includes the F28069M LaunchPad, a mini USB, and a quick start guide to help developers program and debug systems without the need for additional tools. Read about it here. The folks at TI will draw a ticket for one of these LaunchPad’s every 15 minutes throughout the evening.

Wonderful reading material, as always.
